Toro Rosso: Now we can fight in Q3!
Three years ago Honda were left embarrassed at the Japanese Grand Prix after McLaren’s Fernando Alonso compared the Japanese manufacturer’s Formula 1 power unit to a 'GP2 engine”. On Saturday, however, Honda, now supplying engines to Toro Rosso, were celebrating their best combined qualifying result since their return after Brendon Hartley secured sixth place on the starting grid in Suzuka with Pierre Gasly seventh. McLaren, now supplied with Renault engines, were languishing at the back of the grid with Alonso in 18th and Stoffel Vandoorne 19th. “Now we can fight in Q3!” Toro Rosso tweeted, aiming a jibe at Alonso, who made a similar statement after finishing fifth in Australia,...
