Hartley out of Spain F1 qualifying after FP3 crash

Toro Rosso has confirmed that Brendon Hartley will take no part in Formula 1 qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix after his car sustained severe damage in a crash at the end of FP3 on Saturday afternoon. Hartley crashed out at Turn 9 after clipping the grass on entry, hitting the wall at speed rear-first. Further damage was caused when a number of parts fell from the back of the car as it was being craned away by the marshals at the corner. Toro Rosso confirmed in the lead-up to qualifying that Hartley would be unable to take part in qualifying due to the damage caused to his car, requiring several hours of repairs that could not be completed in the two-hour window following FP3.
