Ricciardo: Qualifying was my weak point in 2017
Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo has admitted qualifying was his weak point during the 2017 Formula 1 season as he failed to match his performance from the previous year. The Australian triumphed in Baku but scored 56 fewer points and ended up two places further down in fifth in the drivers’ championship compared to last year. Qualifying has traditionally been a strength of the Australian’s but he trailed teammate Max Verstappen on one-lap pace more often than not in 2017. “I used to be called a Saturday driver, now I feel I’m probably called a Sunday driver,” Ricciardo told Motorsport.com. “Who would have thought? “I’ll put it down to a couple of things.
