Ecclestone: McLaren are to blame, not Honda

Although Bernie Ecclestone is happy that Fernando Alonso will stay on at McLaren, he reckons the McLaren-Renault partnership won't be any smoother than that with Honda. Later this week, likely on Thursday, McLaren are expected to confirm that Alonso has re-signed for next season, agreeing a new £20 million per year contract. The Spaniard's new deal, the rumour mill claims, was ironed out after McLaren agreed a split with Honda and a new engine partnership with Renault. Ecclestone, though, isn't at all sure how that's going to work out. 'The Renault deal is all done,' the former F1 supermo told the Daily Mail.
