Verstappen abbreviation change approved

– Max Verstappen's three-letter abbreviation on Formula 1 timing screens will change from 'VES' to 'VER' for the 2017 season, the Dutchman has confirmed to GPUpdate.net.Verstappen made his first official appearance during practice for the Japanese Grand Prix in 2014, during which he was given the 'VES' abbreviation, while competing for Toro Rosso.That was because then-Toro Rosso driver Jean-Éric Vergne was already using the 'VER' designation, since his own arrival in the sport towards the end of 2011.Vergne lost his Toro Rosso seat at the end of 2014, but retained his F1 links through his role as a Ferrari test driver, thus denying Verstappen the chance to take over his three-letter...
