Stewards confirm outcome of Sainz investigation

Article To news overview © RN365/Michael Potts Carlos Sainz has been reprimanded by the stewards for an incident in the pit lane during Saturday's final practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Ferrari driver Sainz was investigated for an unsafe release that impeded Fernando Alonso, who was travelling down the 'fast lane' in his Alpine. An unsafe release during a race would almost certainly have seen Sainz hit with a time penalty, as per changes to the Sporting Regulations back in 2019. However, unsafe releases during practice sessions and qualifying are dealt with separately, with the stewards assembling to review the incident.
