Spa's iconic Raidillon chalet is no more
©gblanchyphotography For several decades, the chalet at the top of Spa's legendary Raidillon corner existed as a prominent landmark and an incredible vantage from where to watch the action. But safety concerns linked to the daunting corner, validated by several dramatic crashes in recent years at Spa, have forced Spa to extend the run-off area at the top of Raidillon, a change that unfortunately entailed the destruction of the historical chalet. The building was destroyed this week as work at the corner got underway. But hopefully, Raidillon will retain its ingrained challenges while offering improved its safety.
