Mercedes explain decision to leave Hamilton out on Mediums

Mercedes' James Vowles has explained the reason the team opted to put Lewis Hamilton on Medium tyres for three quarters of the race in Monte Carlo. Hamilton won last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix by a hair's breadth over the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, having been kept under serious pressure by the Dutch driver for three quarters of the race. This was a result of Hamilton being fitted out with the Medium compound tyre, while Verstappen, along with the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel and the other Merc of Valtteri Bottas close behind, all had the Hard compound on.
