Valtteri Bottas dominates season-opening Australian Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas stormed to a dominant victory at the Australian Grand Prix to kick-start the 2019 Formula 1 season, fronting a 1-2 finish for Mercedes.  Bottas, who started the season opener from second on the grid after being beaten to pole position by team-mate Lewis Hamilton, dominated the 58-lap affair, clearing the reigning champion into Turn 1 on the race start before leading from lights to flag. Starting on the Soft compound tyre, Bottas used a one-stop strategy to his advantage, pitting at the end of lap 23 for a set of Medium tyres, briefly relinquishing his lead to Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen.
