Fernando Alonso appointed McLaren ambassador as he visits F1 testing

McLaren will still have Fernando Alonso on their books in 2019 as the Spaniard has agreed to act as an ambassador for the F1 team. He will also help test and develop the F1 cars. Alonso, who is currently on an official sabbatical from F1, will continue to be closely associated with McLaren for at least another two years. Having ‘retired' from Formula 1 at the end of 2018, Alonso dropped in on Formula 1 testing in Barcelona on Tuesday. This was on the same day where confirmation came through that the Spaniard will race with the number 66 on his Indycar when he enters the Indy 500 with McLaren this May.
