Sainz buoyed by 'positive' first day for McLaren
Carlos Sainz has praised the progress made by the McLaren team after completing over one hundred laps on the opening day of preseason testing. McLaren newcomer Sainz was able to provide one of the headline results by guiding his MCL34 to second in the standings, less than half-a-second behind pace-setter Sebastian Vettel. The Woking team had one of their best opening test days in recent years and they registered 119 laps around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. They stopped once at the end of the pit lane, but this was not considered due to any big technical troubles for the team. 'It's been a good day.
