Renault ‘honestly' believe Sirotkin deserves F1 drive

Sergey Sirotkin has the pace to race in Formula 1 and deserves a place on the grid; that's according to Renault trackside operations director Alan Permane. Sirotkin is one of several drivers believed to be in line for a Williams race-seat for 2018. The Russian driver tested with the team in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday where he clocked a best time of 1:39.947 on the soft tyre. That put him 1.3s up on his main rival Robert Kubica's soft tyre run from Tuesday. Asked if Sirotkin deserved a race-seat, Permane told Autosport: 'I think so. Honestly, genuinely.
