McLaren open to letting Alonso race at Le Mans in 2018

McLaren is open to letting Fernando Alonso take part in next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans should he remain with the team in Formula 1 for 2018. Alonso is currently engaged in talks with McLaren over a new contract, with his existing deal expiring at the end of this season. The Spaniard said on Thursday he is evaluating all of his options for next season, but with McLaren striking an engine deal with Renault for 2018, he is expected to remain with the team for another year. Alonso is bidding to become just the second driver in history to complete the Triple Crown of Motorsport, comprising the Monaco Grand Prix (a race he has won twice), Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500.
