GPI Flashback: 2016 Grand Prix of Europe
Azerbaijan – in Asia – hosted the Grand Prix of Europe! What Bernie Ecclestone wanted Bernie got! There were rumblings before the race last year that the street circuit might have been unsafe for Formula 1. And indeed during practice and qualifying some illustrious names came in close contact with the walls. But, no worries, it was an incident free Formula 1 race in which Nico Rosberg simply cruised, unhindered to claim a comfortable lights to flag victory. Granted for some it may have been a yawn of a race, however there was intrigue in the form of radio rants by Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen, which remained talking points even after the race.
