Hamilton tops Sunday Times rich list
Lewis Hamilton has been named the richest sportsperson in the UK after increasing his personal fortune to £130million. The Brit increased his wealth by more than £25million over the last 12 months, boosted by big-money sponsorship deals with the likes of Bombardier, L'Oreal and IWC watches alongside his contract with Mercedes. Hamilton lives in the tax haven of Monaco but he insists that he does pay tax on his earnings. “What people don’t realise is that I pay tax here, but I don’t earn all my money here. I race in 19 different countries, so I earn my money in 20 different places and I pay tax in several different places, and I pay a lot here as well,”...
