Rosberg would have stayed in F1 if he lost title

2016 Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg says he would have stayed in Formula One with Mercedes if he didn't win the 2016 F1 world championship. Rosberg, 31, made his announcement to hang his helmet just 5 days after winning his first world championship in Abu Dhabi after admitting that he has achieved his mission in Formula One. The German driver was contracted with Mercedes for another two years, but following Rosberg's shock announcement, the world championship-winning squad will need to quickly find a replacement ahead of February's pre-season testing in Barcelona.
