Grid penalties for Button and Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen's hopes of challenging the Mercedes duo have taken a major hit after his team opted to change his gearbox. With teammate Sebastian Vettel, who qualified fourth, demoted three places following the first lap incident in Sepang, Raikkonen's five-place penalty is a further blow to the Italian team. 'The gearbox has been replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate following a written request from the team concerned (requested on 09 October 2016 at 09:04 hours), this being in accordance with Article 34.2 of the 2016 Formula One Sporting Regulations,' said the official FIA statement confirming the penalty.
