Alonso briefly thought of podium finish

– Fernando Alonso says he fleetingly dreamt of a podium finish but accepted McLaren achieved the maximum result as he placed seventh in Singapore.Alonso started from ninth on the grid but worked his way up to fifth on the opening lap, having avoided the melee at the start which accounted for Nico Hülkenberg.Alonso was subsequently overhauled by the recovering Sebastian Vettel, who started last, and was passed by Max Verstappen during the closing stages.Alonso's points nonetheless aided McLaren in its fight against Toro Rosso for sixth in the Constructors' Championship, moving seven points ahead of its rival."Seventh was the maximum we could achieve today – the best of the...
