Alonso: Fastest lap no indicator of McLaren form

Fernando Alonso insists having set the fastest lap in the Italian Grand Prix is no indication of McLaren's competitiveness at Monza. The Spanish driver posted the quickest lap of the race with two laps to go, having made a late switch to new supersoft tyres as he was already out of the points. Alonso went on to finish in 14th position, a result that he believes is a good reflection of McLaren's struggles at Monza. "I think having the fastest lap doesn't change anything," said Alonso.
