Canadian GP: Hamilton tops first practice as Massa shunts

Lewis Hamilton kept up the momentum of his Monaco win by leading the opening practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, which was disrupted when Felipe Massa crashed his Williams heavily at Turn 1. Hamilton, a four-time winner around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, followed up his Monaco victory with the fastest lap of 1m14.755s. He outpaced teammate Nico Rosberg by 0.331s, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel third using the new turbo upgrade. Max Verstappen was fourth quickest for Red Bull, ahead of the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen.
