Hamilton praises ‘bonus' podium

Australian Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton was delighted to recover from a poor getaway and secure a podium finish at today's Australian Grand Prix. The reigning world champion started the race from pole position, but a poor race start saw the Mercedes driver demoted to seventh place by the end of lap one. The race then turned into a recovery for Hamilton, who was able to overtake Felipe Massa and Max Verstappen prior to the red flag period. After the race restart, Hamilton profited from Mercedes' decision to use the medium-compound tyre to secure second place in the race behind team-mate Nico Rosberg.
