Hamilton last man standing to grab 50th pole 

In what was the first elimination qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton has claimed the first pole position of the year, albeit in a session subject to an anticlimactic finale, with more emphasis being on the clock than the quality of a lap time. With drivers being eliminated every 90 seconds in the second half of each session, it was more a game of timing than speed. After setting their initial Q3 laps, Ferrari decided not to do second runs thus was the gap to the Mercedes. They will line up 3rd and 4th with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen respectively.
