More power for Ecclestone and Todt

Bernie Ecclestone and Jean Todt have been given the power to make decisions regarding F1, a mandate that also governs the sport's engines. Formula 1 is battling to survive these days, not only with spiralling costs but also with dwindling audience figures both at races and on television. One issue that is believed to be playing a role in both is the current 1.6-litre V6 engines. Fans are unhappy with the pace and sound while the smaller teams have been left reeling from the costs.
