Further penalty for Alonso, Button handed 25-place grid penalty

McLaren’s Jenson Button is expected to take a 25-place grid penalty for Austrian Grand Prix following the Woking based squad elected to change several elements of his Honda power unit. McLaren decided on Friday night to replace the full power unit. Given that the drop will be impossible to take in full, Button will likely face a drive-through penalty in the race – much as he did last time out in Canada. Teammate Fernando Alonso has a 20 place penalty, during the third practice session the Spaniard’s McLaren stopped on the pit straight with a gearbox problem which caused fluctuating engine revs. This required a gearbox change, which meant a further five-place grid penalty to add...
