Day Two: Palmer steals the show

Jolyon Palmer put in a very late dash on Wednesday to grab the P1 slot on the second and final day of testing in Spain. Although Mercedes protege Pascal Werhlein has been on top for most of the day, having set a 1:26.497 early in the morning, his time was blitzed late in the afternoon. Heading out in the Lotus shod with a set of supersoft Pirelli tyres, Palmer shot to the top of the timesheets with a 1:26.080. It was a good day for the reigning GP2 Champ who Lotus reckon could have gone even faster had it not been for an 'interruption in the final sector.'
