Rosberg gets ahead in Brazilian GP first practice

A new track surface didn’t hinder Mercedes’ charge in the opening practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix on Friday even as several other drivers slipped and spun during the running. Nico Rosberg headed the times for teammate Lewis Hamilton by two-tenths of a second with the Mercedes duo a second quicker than the rest of the field. Toro Rosso rookie Daniil Kvyat was third ahead of the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso, followed by local favourite Felipe Massa. Max Verstappen, driving Jean-Eric Vergne’s Toro Rosso for the session, was an impressive sixth ahead of Lotus’ Pastor Maldonado.
