Rosberg hindered by issues as Hamilton makes up ground

Lewis Hamilton's disadvantage over championship rival Nico Rosberg was neutralised in the third and final practice session for the Italian Grand Prix on Saturday after the German missed the outing due to a gearbox issue. Hamilton topped the charts ahead of qualifying and made up for the time he lost in second practice on Friday due to an electrical problem while championship leader Rosberg remained confined in the garage after completing three installation laps. Rosberg will escape a penalty as Mercedes was allowed to change certain internals of the unit as allowed by the regulations but he would nevertheless be on the backfoot in qualifying having lost valuable preparation time.
