Hulkenberg blames poor tyre call for qualifying exit
+ Nico Hulkenberg was left to rue a poor strategy call that saw him eliminated in the opening part of qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix.
The German will start Sunday’s race just 18th, his worse qualifying position of the year, and the lowest he has started on the grid since Italy in 2010 when he was racing for Williams, after the team opted against running a new set of the prime tyres.
“In the beginning of Q1 we were going quite strongly, comfortably and quick,” the German told reporters on Saturday. “But we decided as it was going well not to put on a new set of mediums.
