Hamilton sparks controversy over safety car

Lewis Hamilton has questioned the FIA’s decision of not deploying the safety car during the German Grand Prix on Sunday, hinting that it was done to ensure that teammate Nico Rosberg takes a popular home win. Championship leader Rosberg emerged victorious in front of his home fans but it would have been a lot tougher for the German had the field closed up and erasing Hamilton’s deficit to the eventual winner because of a safety car period. On lap 48 of 67, Adrian Sutil spun exiting the final corner and stalled his Sauber in the middle of the start-finish straight.
