Hamilton crashes heavily in qualifying

Lewis Hamilton has crashed heavily during qualifying for the German Grand Prix. The Briton was shaken after hitting the barrier in the circuit's stadium section. Sounding shaken over team radio after initially not responding he said: 'I'm OK. I hit the brakes and something... the brakes failed.' The Mercedes driver has been taken to the medical centre following complaints about his knees.
