Massa fastest on first morning at Silverstone

Williams Martini Racing Williams driver Felipe Massa set the fastest time at the halfway point of the first day of the third in-season test at Silverstone. Massa’s time of 1:35.242 on the Medium compound tyres was three tenths of a second clear of championship leader Nico Rosberg, who returned to the cockpit of the Mercedes W05 Hybrid following his disappointment in Sunday’s British Grand Prix. Sergio Pérez was third, with Jules Bianchi in fourth for Marussia. The Frenchman was the most productive driver of the morning, having completed 73 laps while tyre testing for Pirelli.
