Kobayashi hit with grid penalty

Kamui Kobayashi has been handed a five-place grid penalty as a result of a gearbox change made ahead of qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. Kobayashi had to stop on track during his final run in FP3 as the team told him there was a problem with the car. Having pulled off at Turn 10, when the car was returned to the garage it was discovered that there was a transmission issue and that the gearbox would need to be changed, as a result automatically invoking the five-place grid penalty. With Esteban Gutierrez – who has also changed his gearbox – not running in qualifying due to chassis damage, Kobayashi will only drop one place behind team-mate Marcus Ericsson on the grid having...
