Maldonado's Q1 retirement due to turbo intake issue

dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.15;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">   7th June, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Pastor Maldonado was forced to retire from Q1 to protect his power unit after suffering a turbo intake issue. The Lotus driver felt that without the issue he may have got through to Q2. “We had a problem which meant that I was losing a lot of power on my last flying lap.” Maldonado said. “The engineers asked me to stop the car immediately which was a shame as I think we would have been in a position to compete in Q2.” After qualifying Maldonado received a reprimand for leaving ‘the car without the steering wheel being in place.’.
