A mixed Monaco qualifying session for the 2014 rookies

It was a mixed Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session for 2014’s three rookie drivers today. Kevin Magnussen qualified his McLaren MP4-29 in eighth place after easily making it through to the top 10 shoot-out. The Danish driver proved to be a close match for his team-mate Jenson Button in all three practice sessions and ultimately out-qualified him, after the Brit was eliminated in the second session. He will start just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat. His qualifying session started in rather messy style after he crashed at the Nouvelle chicane in Q1. He lost the rear of the car in the braking zone and spun into the wall, a common error at the tricky harbour-side corner. Fortunately...
