Lots of stories emerged from the opening 2014 F1 pre-season test in Jerez. Renault’s woes; the particular woes of Red Bull; the Mercedes-powered teams’ apparently constant presence at the top of the times; the mileage of the German marque’s works team; Ferrari’s encouraging time of it; the new spec formula particularly with the new hybrid engines; the noise of the ‘power units’.
