Williams given fine for wheel incident
Williams has been fined 60,000 euros (50,941 pounds) after Pastor Maldonado's left-rear wheel came loose during opening practice for the Japanese Grand Prix. Maldonado was forced to pull off the circuit shortly after rounding the Spoon Curve, where a wheel on his Williams came off and bounced into the gravel. The team has since met with the stewards, who described the drama as a "serious safety issue". "Examination of the parts concerned revealed that the wheel fastener had not been completely fastened, thus not engaging the first retaining plunger," read a statement from the stewards. "This is a breach of Article 23.12 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations....
