FIA ready to renew Pirelli tyre contract

Pirelli's Formula 1 tyre contract is ready to be renewed for 2014 if teams and Bernie Ecclestone are in agreement over the matter, FIA President Jean Todt has explained. Amid widespread speculation that Michelin had been lobbying for a return, Todt said he would not open up a tender if those involved in the sport are happy to remain with Pirelli, which already has agreements in place with all 11 outfits and the promoter. "If everybody says we are very happy, then what is the point going to a tender? I will be able to explain that we don't go to a tender because everybody is asking [for Pirelli to stay]," Todt told reporters at the Italian Grand Prix. "But if I had five teams...
