Vettel claims a hat-trick of Canadian GP poles

Sebastian Vettel claimed his third successive Canadian Grand Prix pole position on Saturday giving himself and Red Bull the prime spot an opportunity to register their first win in Montreal. The German’s time of 1 minute 25.425 seconds around the Circuit Gilles Villenueve in wet and tricky conditions ended Mercedes’ four-Grand Prix pole streak. Williams’ Valtteri Bottas was a surprise third, becoming the first rookie this season to take part in the final shootout while the Finn’s teammate Pastor Maldonado was down in 13th. “It means a lot,” Bottas said.
