Extra pre-season test set to be held in 2014

An additional pre-season test is expected to be organised in 2014, with teams and engine manufacturers eager to maximise potential track time during the sport's transition from V8 units to the new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 powerplants. Three four-day gatherings were staged on the run up to the opening race this year, but a proposal is now on the table to increase the pre-season schedule to four tests. "There is what looks like quite a mature proposal to have an additional [pre-season] test session which we are completely in favour of," Renault Sport F1 Deputy Managing Director Rob White explained to Autosport.
