Van der Garde to drive for Caterham

Giedo van der Garde says he is driving for Caterham in Formula 1 this season. The Dutchman, who was a test driver for the team last season, joins French driver Charles Pic. Caterham said Friday his appointment 'is the natural step for the Dutch driver' after racing for the team in the GP2 series and acting as reserve driver with the F1 team. The 27-year-old Van der Garde says 'I know I am ready to take the step up to F1.' He will be the first Dutch F1 driver since Christijan Albers in 2007.
