Gene extends Ferrari test driver deal

Marc Gene will remain with Ferrari for a further season after extending his test driver role. The Spaniard, who started 36 grands prix with a best result of fifth at the 2003 Italian GP, joined Ferrari in late 2004 after parting ways with Williams. Despite F1 banning in-season testing, Gene has remained with the Italian stable, even signing for an additional season. "It is an honour for me to continue with Ferrari for the ninth consecutive year," the Spaniard told GPUpdate. "The goal is to give Fernando Alonso a winning car and also for Ferrari to get the Constructors' title. "I feel very comfortable with the development work that the team is completing."
