Rovanpera pauses Super Formula bid due to health issue

Two-time world rally champion Kalle Rovanpera has been forced to put on hold his long-held ambition of conquering the world of single-seaters, due to health issues. After walking away from the World Rally Championship at the end of 2025, the 25-year-old Finn had set his sights firmly on Japan’s Super Formula, with backing from Toyota. It was an audacious pivot – rally stages traded for circuits, gravel replaced by asphalt precision – all in pursuit of an unlikely route to Formula 1. But the warning signs had already surfaced.
